My wife Hazel.

I was in the hide overlooking the Tarn. The sun was out. I was identifying the waterbirds on the Lake, when my phone went off ! A real surprise all the way out there. It was very good news, but no need to go into detail, but it instantly called up vivid memories of my wife Hazel. She died of cancer 7 years ago. I became very emotional, for various reasons. I always say all memories of her are wonderful, so it was a happy and sad moment. What a day, on an excellent nature reserve as well.

Though you only lived with me for short time until you passed, for years you loved the view of the fell from my house as much as I do. You loved sitting in the garden listening to and watching the birds in this gorgeous area. Miss you poppa xx

Thank you RSPB Geltsdale for finding my phone and sending it back to me. Thank you for all the hard work you do in conserving the habitat at Geltsdale. We had a wonderful day and our first ever sighting of a Hen Harrier and black grouse. We hope to return one day.
